The elementary art program at Boothwyn is developed around the four areas of art included in our K-12 art curriculum. All lessons incorporate art history, art studio, and aesthetics. Individual and group discussions and critiques help the students to better understand their work as well as that of professional artists.
Some of the programs the elementary department participates in are:
Artist of the Month
One student from each building is selected to display a work of art for the month at the Education Center.
Monthly Art Exchange
Each month, the four elementary schools exchange and display art work from another building in the district. This allows the children to see and enjoy the work of their peers throughout the district.
Youth Art Month Exhibit
March is designated as National Youth Art Month. Each March, the elementary schools in the district have an art exhibit at the Mary Campbell Library in Marcus Hook, Pa. The library houses eleven pieces from each building so the community can appreciate the artistic endeavors of the children throughout the month.
Permanent Student Exhibit
The Home and School Association provides funds for the framing of student art work each year. The work is framed over the summer and displayed throughout the hallways in the building starting in September of the following year.
