Procedure for the Instructional Support Process

The IST process generally follows the following procedure: 

1. A staff member or parent requests the assistance of the IST.
2. The parent(s) are contacted.
3. Information is collected through interviews, observation, review of available data, and curriculum based assessments.
4. An IST meeting is held to define the strategies to meet the stated goals to support the student.
5. An Intervention Plan is written to describe the strategies and how they will be implemented.
6. The plan is implemented and monitored for a minimum of thirty school days.
7. The team reconvenes to evaluate the progress of the plan.  Depending on the success of the plan, the intervention may be redesigned, or further information may be requested through a multidisciplinary evaluation.
